WONDERLAND THEATRE & FILM ARTS WORKSHOP
SUNDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2015
The children produced their very own Halloween Interactive production. Guided in the professionally led workshops, the children created everything themselves, from writing the scenes to making the props. The children made a haunted house and graveyard in set design and prop making. In acting class and storytelling they devised their own scenes and became a halloween magical creature of their choice. In storytelling & script writing, in pairs, the children wrote their own scene for the script. The children made spooky characters in shadow puppetry and learned how to puppeteer them. In puppetry and physical theatre, the children worked together to become a ghost, magical pumpkins and the haunted forest. They played Halloween themed games and enjoyed watching Casper the friendly ghost in our movie screening. On the second day, the children invited friends and family to a performance of their work. In the performance, two children tell each other spooky stories before they go to bed. When the children are told to go to sleep by their mother, the boys begin to dream about the spooky tales, and the little monsters in the dreams, performed by the children, come to life.
In our, 'Wonderland themed taster day', children learnt and performed scenes inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Our professional acting workshops were led by the fabulous Roddy Peters, who recently performed in the immersive theatrical production of 'Alice's Adventures Underground' in London.
Punch and Judy and expert, Will Cousins led a workshop where the children learnt puppetry skills and as a group, brought to life the Alice's friend, the Caterpillar. In physical theatre and dance, the children learnt a routine as The Queen of Heart's Pack of Cards. The children also made masks and props in prop making which they got to take home. They were encouraged to contribute ideas to the performance and technical theatre. The children had the exciting opportunity of performing their Wonderland scenes in a studio setting to a professional film crew.
